Nerve Pain

Nerve pain is one of the most difficult symptoms to isolate and treat. This is due to a variety of reasons including the pain not being restricted to the area where the affliction is occurring. For example, a pinched nerve in the spine can have effects as low down as the calf. It takes a very experienced practitioner to understand the nuances of how nerve pain manifests itself.

What Pinched Nerves are

“Pinched nerves” is a catch all and rather descriptive term for what is not really a medical phrase Nerve compression can take place in many different areas of the body including the hands and wrists. In fact, repetitive stress injury and carpal tunnel syndrome are very well known examples of pinched nerves. While these have been relatively well documented, pinched nerves arising in the lower back are a little more difficult to diagnose.

There are several possible reasons for pinched nerves in the spinal cord. Some of these are herniated disks, bone spurs and spinal stenosis. Sciatica is also caused by pinched nerves.

Symptoms of Pinched Nerves

The symptom of pinched nerves in the back is pain radiating down the buttocks and thighs. Back pain often results from a pinched nerve. Since there is so much variance in the symptoms of pinched nerves in the back, it is extremely difficult to come up with a standard set of symptoms.

Treatment

The most common treatment for a pinched nerve is rest. For those patients for whom the problem is more endemic, the treatment depends on the specific cause. For example, a herniated disk can cause a pinched nerve and the treatment for that is rest, physical therapy and anti inflammatory injections.

Spinal stenosis on the other hand might require surgery for removing the lamina. This is called a laminectomy.

Spinal Decompression

Of late, a new technique for treating pinched nerves has gained acceptance among the general public called Spinal Decompression. This non surgical and non invasive procedure involves gentle stretches and manipulations of the spine. It has been found to be efficacious for many different kinds of spinal problems including pinched nerves. The latest techniques involve the spine being scientifically manipulated by a machine formally known as the DRX9000.

Due to the drug free and holistic approach used by spinal decompression, many doctors have taken it up as a safe means to alleviate patients from back pain resulting from pinched nerves. Use our guide to find out how to choose a chiropractor to suit your needs.

Back pain that goes shooting down one or both legs is a telltale sign that your spinal nerve is getting pinched between two pieces of bone. The pain can be so bad that it makes walking impossible. Left untreated, it can have a myriad of side effects like muscle atrophy.

Traditional treatment for this sort of problem is a surgical procedure known as a laminectomy. However, it has a lower than average success rate, carries the risk of complications and requires a great deal of recovery time. Thankfully, there is new hope for patients suffering from this condition as a device nicknamed the X-Stop promises to provide a much easier alternative.

The X-Stop

Dr. Harold Hess from Menorah, Illinois has developed a device called the X-Stop that sits between the bones that are pinching the nerve and can alleviate the resulting pain. The device requires a much easier surgical procedure for implantation than a laminectomy and therefore has fewer complications and a much shorter recovery time.

Though it’s an FDA approved procedure, private insurers are still calling it “experimental” even though Medicare covers it.

Risks

There could be a problem with infection or with the device falling out, though Dr. Hess is very confident that the chances are small. Also, back pain can be caused due to a complex variety of factors and there is no guarantee that the procedure will result in the alleviation of pain. This is true for all back surgeries however, and there is no guarantee of a successful treatment even with conventional surgery.

Spinal Decompression

For those who are averse to even the smallest intrusive treatment, there is another alternative available that has helped a large number of people – spinal decompression. It consists of a series of traction movements against the spine performed under the guidance of a certified chiropractor. These movement cause a negative pressure between the bones of the spine alleviating the pressure on the nerve.

It is non invasive and its application has been successful on several occasions. Patients feel better almost immediately, and many have reported a complete cessation of pain after a few sessions. Use this website to find a chiropractor who suits your needs and your style. You can use our guide on how to choose a chiropractor in order to find one whom you are comfortable with.

Summary

There are several new and exciting developments in the field of back pain treatment. Spinal Decompression and the X-Stop are two of the latest techniques that demonstrate the level of innovation and options available to patients.

Sunrise Spinal Decompression has been the defining feature of the Burch Spinal Decompression Center. Making use of the latest technology and the newest models of fitness, Dr. Larry Burch is the chief architect of it’s success.

Dr. Burch is a strong believer in improving the overall health of the patient with a holistic approach untarnished by the specter of drugs which have degenerated the health landscape of this country. In order to achieve this, he practices the most advanced and safe procedures to relive back pain due to:

Sciatica

Herniated Disks

Facet Syndrome, and

Bulging Disks

Even neck or back pain due to unspecified conditions are treated after a thorough evaluation. In fact, the first step in treatment is a complete and holistic checkup examining various facets of the patient’s life including their physical activity and medical history. Advances in science have now allowed chiropractors to improve their understanding of how the body works and how to better appreciate the way in which the body attempts to warn us of problems using pain as a medium.

Dr. Burch’s experience in the field is most impressive. Certified in practices ranging from Radiographic Procedures to Acupuncture, he started his chiropractic training in 1958 and has been an active participant in all fields relating to his practice. He has been a pioneer in the new “Wellness Revolution” that is sweeping the country and his contributions include servicing the Florida community since 1963.

For those who are still suffering from pain even afer surgery, Sunrise Spinal Decompression can help provide relief after just a few sessions. Walk into our office to learn more!

The DRX9000 Spinal decompression technique is an implementation of the spinal decompression procedure that has been gaining a lot of momentum lately due to it’s effectiveness in reducing pain. Owing to the complex procedures involved in spinal decompression, the use of a mechanized solution to aid the physician is necessary.

The DRX9000 is one such system which effectively utilizes microchip controlled movements to achieve the goals of spinal decompression. Built by Axiom worldwide located in Tampa Florida, the machine has revolutionized Chiropractic techniques giving doctors a cost effective way to neutralize back and neck pain.

The DRX9000 utilizes a procedure known as a nested closed loop feedback that automatically adjusts itself based on various parameters thereby ensuring that the variable forces on the spine are most effectively delivered to the precise points that need it most.

About Spinal decompression

Spinal decompression is the latest technology behind Chiropractic mastery these days and it’s adoption has been widespread amongst the community. With a success rate that is over 86%, the procedure has gained acceptance within a broad spectrum of the community.

The underlying logic is that the discs that sit between the vertebral columns don’t receive proper nutrition and blood flow when they are damaged as in the case of herniated discs. This prevents their proper repair and exacerbates the pain. Spinal decompression attempts to provide relief to these discs by manipulating the vertabral column in such a way that the discs experience a negative pressure from within. This means that they draw themselves inwards as well as allow nutrients and blood flow to permeate.

This can cause bulging discs to get sucked back in and the osmotic pressue allows the disc to receive much needed aid from nutrients. The entire process promotes healing and enables the patient to get back on his or her feet as soon as possible.

The DRX9000 has now made this procedure into one that is accessible to all patients. Costing less than a tenth of surgery, it has provided new hope to those suffering from chronic back pain.
